NPORS N100 Excavator as a Crane

Course Description

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely carry out lifting operations using a 360 degree excavator. This course includes theory and practical elements with tests being conducted on each.

By the end of the course delegates should be able to;

Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities as an operator.

Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the machine and how to operate it safely ands et the SLI.

Conduct all pre operation checks to ensure the machine is in a safe condition for using attachments.

Locate, identify, and explain the SWL and lifting capacity charts.

Explain the different lifting configurations and working ranges.

Explain the different lifting procedures and explain which tasks would fall into each category.

Identify and explain centre of gravity and calculate estimated weight of loads.

Identify any overhead / proximity hazards.

Agree the signal codes/hand signals with the designated slinger signaller.

Check load integrity and security by carrying out a trial lift.

Lift and move a load to a designated position in a safe and controlled manner, in line with the lift plan.

Carry out all end of shift shut down procedures.

Candidates must have a SOLAS CSCS Excavator card prior to attending this course.

Max experienced 1 day operator tests - 6

Max delegates for 2 day novice course - 4

Certification 

On successful completion, delegates will recieve a NPORS Excavtor as a crane operator card valid for 3 years.

Operators are advised to complete a 1 day refresher every 3 years.
